We came to the UK after russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2024, leaving our lives behind. The constant shelling of our cities and the blackouts caused by the destruction of Ukraine’s power grid forced us to seek a safer place to raise and educate our children. We were fortunate to adapt quickly to our new environment and have since found permanent work in educational projects in West Yorkshire.
As we settled, we reflected on what helped us adjust so rapidly. First and foremost, it was the extraordinary hospitality and support of the British people. Secondly, we arrived with a strong knowledge of English - one of us had taught English to children in Ukraine before the war, and the other worked in a language school and now teaches English at a college here.
After two years abroad, when we saw that the war was ongoing and that its consequences for our country would be felt for decades to come, we realised that we had to help our country not only by supporting the army and donating. Our aim is to create opportunities for children to learn, grow, and prepare for their future. In twenty years’ time, these children will be the ones rebuilding our country.
We would be truly grateful for your support and for helping us spread the word. The more people who join this project, the more children we can offer a brighter future.
