We came to the UK following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, leaving behind our former lives and everything familiar. In those early months, what made the greatest difference was the kindness of British people. Their openness and generosity helped us settle, rebuild, and begin again in a place that felt safe.
As life gradually became more stable, we started to reflect on our journey. We realised we did not only want to adapt to our new life — we wanted to contribute to it. From that point, our work naturally began to grow in three connected directions.
First, we stayed closely connected to Ukraine by supporting children affected by the war. We provide English lessons and send English books to Ukrainian libraries, generously donated by individuals and organisations in the UK. These books open up a world of learning and imagination, helping children build confidence, knowledge, and hope for their future.
At the same time, we began working with women here in the UK, many of whom are rebuilding their lives just like we are. Through wellbeing activities and practical workshops, we help women develop digital, business, and language skills, while also creating space for connection, confidence, and belonging.
Alongside this, we realised that so many stories about Ukraine focus on pain and loss, so we wanted to show something different - its beauty, creativity, and hope. This is how our art workshops for children and adults began. Through creative and cultural workshops, we bring people together to create, learn and connect.
What started as a journey of displacement has gradually become a journey of contribution - one rooted in learning, sharing, and growing together.
